Getting Ready For The New Golf Season

When cold weather sets in most of us have a tendency to stay inside, watch TV and mentally improve our golf game with little physical activity. Unfortunately, all of the mental fixes I create to improve my score never seem work when I'm actually on the course. Here are a three tips to actually get ready for the new golf season.

Participate an Exercise/Yoga Class

A local exercise program will help you get back into the exercise groove under the instruction of a teacher who can be certain the exercises/poses are performed correctly. The positive feed back you receive from other participants is also a boost to help you get into shape more quickly. Who knows, you just may meet a person in class who is also a golfer and searching for a foursome.

Practice Putting

Putting on a smooth service will give you the feel of a properly executed putt. Putting indoors can also help with alignment and distance. Remember most of the strokes on the score card are from putting. Set a personal goal to sink more two putts and eliminate those frustrating three putts!

Prepare Your Equipment

If there is a club that needs to be replaced or clubs re-gripped, we have a tendency to "worry about that later." Before the first tee time is the perfect opportunity to inspect, clean and repair clubs as needed. It is also a good time to replace old scuffed balls and replenish tees and markers. Now is also the best time to throw away that old glove that you have been keeping for years! Buy a new one!! Golf is a wonderful, challenging game that we can enjoy all of our lives. Getting ready for the new season is fun and exciting because we once again have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with our golf buddies, and shoot lower scores!
